Waseem clinched an impressive third place, showcasing exceptional strategy and skill. Competing against several world champions, he made a remarkable comeback by winning 10 of his last 11 games after a challenging start.
According to Tariq Pervez, Director of the Pakistan Scrabble Association (PSA), Waseem’s resilience and expertise were evident throughout the tournament. Eta Karo from Nigeria claimed the championship title, while Wellington Jighere, the 2015 World Champion, secured second place.
Notably, Waseem was also a finalist in the North American Championship earlier this month, making him the only player to finish in the top three in both major tournaments held in the USA this month.
Waseem’s achievement highlights his talent and establishes him as a formidable contender on the international Scrabble stage.
