Hanif Khan: One of Pakistan’s Legendary Hockey Players
Hanif Khan is one of the classiest former Pakistani hockey players. The inside left was born in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, on July 5, 1959.
Known for his amazing body dodges and sharp speed, Hanif Khan was exceptional at causing devastation to the opposition’s defense. On his day, he had the ability to single-handedly win a match.
Hanif was a frequent member of the highly successful Pakistan team that triumphed at the World Cups (1978, 1982) and Asian Games (1978, 1982). He was also a part of the gold-winning team at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, scoring three goals in the tournament, including one in the final.
His outstanding contributions to hockey earned him the 1984 Pride of Performance Award. In 2014, he was further honored with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence).
