IUCPSS
The Inter University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences Arts and Humanities (IUCPSS), Pakistan was established on 23 January 2012 in Bahawalpur, Pakistan. Professor Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, then Vice Chancellor of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (July 2010 – July 2014) was appointed as Founding Chairperson of this consortium.
This is the first ever educational consortium in Pakistan to promote collaboration among higher education institutions. The areas of cooperation under the consortium initially envisaged were faculty development/faculty exchange and appointment of scholars as adjunct faculty members on reciprocal basis among the member institutions, exchange of students & scholars, organizing/initiating joint research projects (each university would work in its respective geographical area), linkages with other national & international organizations, joint seminars/conferences & workshops and other academic/co-curricular activities, sharing of facilities/expertise among the consortium members, diploma/certificate, courses on civic/human rights education and other important issues and programs of mutual interest. It was also agreed that with the consent of participating institutions new avenues of collaborative activities will also be explored.
Since the establishment of IUCPSS Mr. Murtaza Noor has been working as Coordinator General of this consortium. With available resources his office liaise with the consortium Chairperson office to conduct and manage various activities. Currently, Dr. Nasir Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Haripur is the torch bearer of this consortium. His efforts in bringing the higher education stakeholders to work jointly for Pakistan in social sciences and allied sectors has been applauded. He has several years experience of working in the higher education sector and mainly contribution of universities towards society development and progress.
Keeping in view the academic and other efficacy of the IUCPSS in the field of social sciences the Elite Sports Pakistan (ESP) approached IUCPSS and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the IUCPSS to do joint ventures in the fields of social sciences, arts, humanities and sports and organize national and international level sports championships in various sports disciplines. It would be pertinent to mention that IUCPSS has more than sixty (60) universities affiliations on his credit in the Pakistan along with a spectrum of professional networking leads in the educational industry and affiliations with a number of reputed academic institutions at national and international level.
