Right Back … Olympian Zafar Ahmed Khan

January 14, 1929 – June 10, 2023

A dynamic and legendary field hockey player. Renowned for his skills in jacking, dribbling, dodging, ball control, passing, and receiving, he excelled in all three positions on the backline. At the age of 36, he proudly won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. Later, at 66, he led the Pakistan Veterans team to victory, earning a gold medal at the World Veterans Cup in Sydney in 1994. His career, however, was marked by the sorrow of the injustice at the Rome Olympics in 1960. Zafar Ahmed Khan’s remarkable achievements and dedication to the sport will always be remembered.
